Iridian Group Design Matters 2014

December is a time for looking back, and to kick off our 2014 review, we’ve looked back at our design posts and compiled a list of some of our favorites!

First up is the post from early in the year – What is Graphic Design? – the post looks at what design is, what it isn’t and what graphic designers really do. If you’ve ever wondered how to define what a designer does, this is a great place to start.

Another post we love is also from early in the year, and looks at why businesses need good design. If you’ve ever considered scrapping your marketing budget, or going with a logo you’ve designed yourself, here’s some great reasons to reconsider.

At Iridian Group, we have a specific design philosophy, called Intentional Design. Another favorite post is one that explains what Intentional Design is and how we use it to approach client projects. It’s the heart of what we do, so we love this post!

We went to the Field Paper Company Show this fall, and came back inspired!  So inspired, in fact, that we wrote a post called “Print Can Do More” stemming from what we saw at the show.  If you’re pondering the future of print, this is a post to look at!

Finally, the last two posts aren’t really just one post – they are two series.  This summer and fall, we looked at some basic design theory, detailing the Elements of Design and the Principles of Design.  Want to read them all? Visit: Elements 1, 2, and 3 and Principles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6!

We hope you enjoy this look back at our design favorites this year! We’ll be looking at more of our favorites over the next few weeks!
